Welcome to the NSHS Class of 66 Blog!!!

Forty two years ago we had typewriters (only at school), carbon paper (kids today don't have any idea what that is) and one home telephone (usually on a party line). The USPS was the only way to send a written communication. Now, I am communicating through the air to anyone who finds this webpage and once I hit the Publish Post button, it's instantaneous. If you just sit down and think about it, it sounds like science fiction, doesn't it?Well, anyway, here is my feeble attempt at a blog for the Class of 1966. This is in addition to our group page on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=19106063000). There's a little more flexibility on a blog- music, pictures, etc. are easier to post. We can communicate on Facebook and look and listen on the blog.I hope you will participate. I know that I want to know what is happening in the lives of my oldest friends, and I know you do, too.Take a look and join in.

March Birthdays

Here are our March birthdays- we know how old they will be, so I won't dwell on that subject!

March 17- Martha Taylor Martin
March 18- David Dodds
March 19- Diane Graves Stader
March 26- Jeanette Davis Juraschka
March 29- Mary Thornton Marcantel
March 31- Mary Carolyn Graves McLeary

A big Thank You to Alida for her research and keeping us posted on upcoming b'days. And to Jennie for her amazing memory. Here are some comments that Alida has received this month about this special birthday event:

From Ola Horton Mallard:

Mary Carolyn? Remember when your little dog bit me? Or was it Judy's nextdoor. One of you had a little dog and I rode up on my bike and got bit!! :)Scared me to death but I guess it didn't hurt me huh?The good ole days in Westover.HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ALL OF YOU!! YOU WILL BE OLDER THAN ME - DON'T FORGETTHAT! -- Ola----------------------------------------------------------------------------And another "Westover" reminder to Mary Carolyn from me (Alida) -- thefirst time I met you was right after you and Judy Moore had gotten sunburnedto a crisp at the VFW swimming pool. You two were walking around in yourpanties holding up pillowcases on your front side! Mom was over at Mrs.Dyer's getting her hair fixed. I guess Westover people didn't mindpre-pubescent young ladies running around like that! HA! HAPPY BIRTHDAYAGAIN!

From Lynn Snelson Bradford:

Happy Birthday everyone! Glad to know I haven't hit the ripe old age of 60 yet! Lynn

From Gail Foresythe Ray:

I think 60 is wonderful. One of my co workers(young) asked what did it fill like to be 60? I replied that I did not know as I had not been 60 before. Age is a state of mind. I did not think any of us acted like 60 year olds at the reunion, Happy Birthday to all this year!Gail Foresythe Ray

From Peggy Dodd Hopper:

A friend of mine put it this way. She said her body was old but her soul (mind, feelings, etc.) was the same as when she was young. Peggy

And, an original poem from our class Poet Mike Kendall:

Poet¹s comment:

I was young and to stubborn to see I kept spinning my wheels trying to find me. I got old now, I¹m beginning to see That life is really getting better for me. Now it takes thicker glasses to see But at last I think I found the real me. At least that is how I see me!

Let's hear what's going on in your life...

And Many More,

Diane
